"We Should Catch Up Sometime"

I'm hardly the person to make new year resolutions but when 09 started, I did have in mind to catch up with old pals (or new), all in the spirit of motherhood. This, mostly because I realised that it gets more important for girls to have girl pals as we get older. Its been good progress so far and especially with my reunited minah kakis from a god-forsaken art school, it left me a great sense of appreciation to have known them.

I've always had boys as friends but at the point I was entering motherhood, that didn't seem to work out very well and I wasn't blessed with sisters thus my new-found girly moments, I like it pretty much. Latebloomer gitu.. Now anytime I get called for an auntie-date, I'm so on!

A Then-and-Now Post

In 1999 I went to Ho Chin Minh with Ashley to run errand for Matriarch and we made a couple of friends. Ten years later, one of them came to Singapore to work so Ashley and I caught up with him during the weekend. I love how things turn out the way you least expect it to.

Here's a Then-and-Now pic ONTD style.

Our dear Vu was only 16 then.

Me as Baby

Following the trend of uploading stone-age photos. I realise my girls don't look anything like me and I'm not complaining.

edited: regarding queries on the nestle photo, yeppp crowned for 1st prize Geylang Constituency Baby Contest in 1976. ahem.. (but I lost at national competition - according to Matriarch, I slept through).

and I was aggro from the start:

Potential Makcik's Hangout

From my mobile blog:

You know you are becoming a member of the makcik\ah-soh community when you squeal upon seeing a big green neon signage that reads "Giant" on a nearby newly-renovated reopened mall.

---------------------------------------
So Mister and I dropped by this evening, being the huge fan of beef that he is, of course his sole intention was to check out the halal meat counter inside Giant itself. And we met another expectation, Banquet, which is not open yet but already listed on the directory. And to top it off, good news for the kids, a Splash Park too, soon.

Weekend hypermarket date anyone?

22 = 33

22 December yours truly turned 33.

But I never saw the need to whine about age.. except once when I was denied entrance to a movie theatre to watch my first rated film, Mee Pok Man, because I wasn't 18 yet. Other than that, I think everyone should look forward to being older as we would when we were 17. Age should never matter for anything at all. A 50-yr-old could well be much fitter than I am cos he or she exercises and watches his or her diet better. A 20-year-old could well be more disgruntled than I am because he or she has a much more taxing job to manage. It's really how you perceive life that is important. When I was studying art, I had a lecturer whose got a headful of white hair pulled back in a bun but I always thought of her as the coolest-looking lecturer ever. Thus age should not be an excuse to not look good either. "Presentation" is what's most important (for me at least). So what if we'll be in our thirties, forties, fifties, there should always be something to look forward to. Retirement, grandchildren, even death, what better way to rest (jadi banyak-banyakanlah buat ibadah).
A few days back, I came across this quote:

" I can never feel age...
if you have creative work,
you can never feel age or time "
Louise Nevelson, 1980 (1900-1988)

So I don't know if it has anything to do with my line of work. But what I do know, is to make it a point to look forward to ageing. And perhaps being a blogging granny?

Me Mobile

http://mimimobile.blogspot.com/

This other (photo)blog will probably be more updated when I'm not on here. More on the interest of buddies cos I won't be back in the office for a loooooong time so won't be connected that much. Keep me entertained there ok? Cos I'll be easier connected via mobile in the next few days.

Bugging the Buggy

Stand far away if you ever see me reversing a buggy. Hazardous! But these drives give me better lunch especially when pregnant.
