Auntie's Visit (that's what some of them call it?)

If you're pregnant and complaining about the discomfort, maybe you can remind yourself the glory of being free from the bitchin' menses for a year.

oh and unprotected sex for 9 months.

Delivering Marsha

I don't usually like to embed youtube vids but I just have to show how amazing it was that (at 0.57 onwards) doctors were working on me while I was fully conscious. Like Mister said, they looked like mechanics working on a car.

Bugging the Buggy

Stand far away if you ever see me reversing a buggy. Hazardous! But these drives give me better lunch especially when pregnant.

Hello VE

Pregnancy update. So we saw the Obygyn last friday and said hello to our first Vaginal Examination. I never had one with previous pregnancy because of early birth. Obygyn had to check if this is going to be another early birth so I was kind of expecting but not looking forward to this examination. I had my palm pressed down my eyes while he was examining so I did not see Mister's expression or what he was doing but if he was watching, the words to "The Hands of The Doctor" must have ran through his head.

So verdict is:
1. Baby is at now at 2.5kg (anything beyond this will more or less confirm me for a C-Section).
2. Obygyn is still not confirming me for a C-section cos he said the weight might stabilise till birth so I still have chance for a normal delivery.
3. It's not going to be as early as before.

So we'll wait till next appt for further updates. Dreading another VE.

Pregnancy Complains - hard to avoid

My feet have gotten swollen beyond recognition. Getting out of bed is painful on the joints. Many times I feel like I'm about to deliver because Munchkin coming out 3 weeks earlier (impatient kid right from the start) have gotten me paranoid this time round. I need to hold on for just one more day to find out:

1. Baby's weight
2. If I still have options for a normal delivery or a C-Section
3. If I might have another early delivery and/or be given a new estimated due date.

It's definitely a harder pregnancy than before probably because of age and the existence of a toddler in my care. My workplace is hilly so it requires a lot of uphill and downhill walking and/or stair-climbing.

Unintentional Dad's Day Dinner

Unintentional because it was supposed to be a birthday dinner but it fell on Dad's Day. Plus it was partially my brother's (who has been a dad for almost 11 years) treat so it turned out more of a Dad's Day Dinner at the Carousel. Matriarch had always suggested dinner there but it is constantly fully-booked so we managed to do a way advanced booking for last Sunday.

My brother the Midnight Hero (he only sleeps in the day) with Munchkin and my niece.

Me as the dugong. I've lost my collar bones and jawline. We'll work something out later.

Bass Guitar or Stroller?

The initial plan last year upon getting this Epiphone Viola Bass was to use it for the recording of Serenaide's new material.

But the vocalist knocked the bassist up again and practice sessions were majorly disrupted. Plans had to be shelved so the band goes on another maximised maternity break.

Since the guitar was bought, it had only been caressed once for 2hours and was untouched since (plastics not even removed yet).

Being the 'struggling musicians' that they are and with coming of baby no.2, they figured that it's more practical to sacrifice the guitar and get a stroller AND a car-seat instead.

So anyone wants an Epiphone Viola Bass (with hard case) for $450?

Boxers for Pregnancy

I remember reading a pregnancy tip somewhere that if you've gotten to large to fit into your undies, was to raid you husband's wardrobe for boxers. I swear it's one helluva useful tip I've ever come across since preggy. So snug ang comfy! But of course by blogging this, I risk the luxury of raiding his wardrobe ever again.

Switching Gears

Let me first introduce to you these two bands from Indonesia if you haven't already know them.

The Upstairs
I absolutely love their music and image ever since I knew about them. Very original and creative with much credit given to frontman, Jimmy Multhazam.

White Shoes & The Couples Company
Good music too! Plus how honored were we for having the privilege to share the stage with them when Serenaide played Bandung in 2005. Unfortunately we didn't get to mingle as they played right before us. Besides, us being the last band, when the show ended, all I wanted to do was to leave the smokey place as I was 4 months pregnant with Munchkin.

Anyway these two bands had a 'switching gears' session which I found hilarious (check out Jimmy in White Shoes gear. The hair and moustache!)

Surviving The Heat

I managed to brave the heat and go public (to Marina Sq, ok?) and back with Munchkin on my 7-months-pregnant own to meet Pau and Baby D last Sunday. Munchkin was surprisingly cooperative throughout the trip.

Tips on Heat Survival:
1. Keep the make-up minimal and avoid anything smudgesome. But unless you're Angelina Jolie, don't go totally without lah. The last thing you'd want to look like is a very bochap pregnant ahntee.

2. Tie up the hair and keep the fringe tucked at the side. You won't appear sexy anyway with your hair down but perspiration above your upper lip.

3. Keep the outfit sexy and loose - This I wish I've got slender enough arms to go sleeveless. Thing is, they tend to make maternity clothes sleeveless and people like me have to seek help in cardigans but I can't do that with the current weather. So by sexy for me I meant a single layer outfit.

4. Don't rush. Take sheltered routes as much as possible. I gave myself ample time so I could stroll. No sweat.

Tips on Bringing The Kid Out:

1. Comfortable stroller. I found Munchkin being cooperative lately mostly because she's more obliging to stay put in her new Aprica stroller unlike the Maclaren Triumph we lost. Probably because it's cushiony and has back ventilation and reclines much better so she fell asleep at ease in it.

2. Bring only useful items. I only brought along her favorite thin books in case she needed to be entertained during the train ride. And snacks in tiny containers (which I try not to give in the train unless really necessary).

3. Make bag hang-able on the stroller push handle.

Munchkin is probably easier to bring out at this stage because she likes to talk and play pretend. On the train-ride home, she preferred to be seated on the train seat instead of her stroller (which might have earned me cold hard stares from the standing crowd) and we chatted a lot of which, I had to pretend to understand every word she said.

On a separate note, I realised how bad bloggers Pau and I make. We didn't take any photos!
-edited- ok pau, except that one pathetic hotsling demo.

For the Indie Kids

My nesting instinct is finally kicking in and I'm in panic mode. I have to make space for baby. These stuff I brought back from Indo early this year, I haven't been diligently selling them off so now is the time.

Lunch-time Haircut

Try it if you haven't!
Getting a minty shampoo and relaxing head massage during your work break is the thing to go for. Try doing on a blah Monday or Wednesday. Coming back to office with hair fresh from a salon makes me feel like I'm done up for an occasion. Now I feel like I should head down to the salon before I go into labour so I won't look like I had not slept in a thousand years when I get guests. Okay, at least that's a good point if I'm confirmed for a C-section.

Excuse my stye. I'm holding on to surgery until the baby comes out.

Hard to Swallow?

This morning, a student thought I was another student and he said I look young when I told him I'm a staff. Being 7 months pregnant, I thought that was hard to swallow but considering the fact that I've swallowed things that are harder to swallow before, I'll take this one willingly with grace, thank you.

Shaving Down South

One of the hardest thing to do when you're heavily pregnant is shaving down your southern region. The portable mirror becomes your best bathroom-friend but still tough to bend over when you're hitting the more intimate areas. If only I'm not too wimpy to do a Brazilian.
